Abrasive Wheel Awareness

Objectives:

To gain awareness of the hazards associated with the use of abrasive wheels and to provide delegateswith the knowledge of how to work with the equipment safely and understand control methods required to prevent injury.

Duration:

Course duration is ½ day

Who should attend:

This course is suitable for those who will be operating Abrasive Wheels and require knowledge of how to operate safety.

Course Content:

This course i1/2 day course will cover the following:

• Demonstrate a basic understanding of the industry and their roles and responsibilities as an operator
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook
• Locate and identify the major components and controls of the equipment and explain their functions
• Conduct all pre-operation checks
• Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area
• Select a suitable wheel, relative to the work being undertaken
• Demonstrate changing the wheel
• Safely store the equipment after use

Practical demonstration and use of fire extinguishers will give delegates confidence to operate them in the event of a fire.

Outcomes:

On completion of the course delegates will have an awareness of the use of abrasive wheels and allow how to operate and store the equipment safely. Delegates will gain a CPD certificate which is valid for 3 years.

Delegate Preparation:

There is no requirement for delegates to have any previous knowledge of abrasive wheels, meaning it is suitable for beginners.
